An exquisite antique Victorian long guard chain made up of fabulous Silver links that have been gilded in 18ct Yellow Gold and stamped with a cross on each side.

The chain is complete with a large trigger clasp at the end which may have been used to attach a pocket watch or a cylinder of fur known as a Muff to keep the wearers hands warm in winter.

Each chain link has developed a lovely smoothness with age and articulate beautifully together. It is truly wonderful and can be worn as one long chain or wrapped 2-3 times around the neck.
